Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)
As part of my graduate program at Illinois State University, I have been offered the opportunity to be a teaching assistant. As a GTA, I assist professors with grading assignments, leading workshops, helping prepare course materials for the art education department, doing inventory, and aiding students with professional development.
As the TA for Art 201: Media, Techniques & Inquiry For Elementary & Middle Level School, I had the opportunity to lead an Unconventional Design Challenge, “Trash to Treasure”. Students were able to participate in this lesson on how to use sustainable materials to create wearable designs, as well as learn how to implement this idea into their future classrooms.
As the TA for Art 204: Arts for Elementary Schools, I had the opportunity to build two media and technique workshop days for the students. One Wet Media Day and one Dry Media Day. Students learned printmaking, painting, drawing, color mixing, and mixed media techniques
